President

Francesca is an Anthropology and Social Change PhD student studying economic anthropology; labor, leisure, post-work imaginaries & utopian paradigms. Currently living and working in Los Angeles, Francesca is an appointed Hispanic Scholar, UN Youth Delegate, Diversity & Opportunity Scholarship awardee, Society for Visual Anthropology mentee and current President of the National Association of Student Anthropologists (NASA).
In addition to her anthropological work, Francesca works full-time as a sustainable communities & economies developer where she collaborates on projects that support solidarity economies, worker cooperative initiatives, and grassroots economic organizing.

Bridget is a PhD student in sociocultural anthropology at the University of Michigan. In her dissertation research, she will explore how the semiotics of agrarian material culture, especially human-plant relationships, in rural Transylvania have changed during the transitions into and out of state socialism.
Before serving as President Elect and President, she was the journal editor of NASA’s peer-reviewed publication, Student Anthropologist, for two years. She looks forward to a fruitful final year with NASA and welcomes any students interested in joining our team to reach out.

Solicits and reviews proposals for the AAA Annual Meeting, and coordinates the Annual Meeting sessions including special
events, workshops and invited sessions
Works with the NASA Student Anthropologist (SA) Editor, and the AAA
Publications representatives to create and disseminate the SA journal
Creates and designs content for both the NASA website and the AAA
Resources for Students in Anthropology
Maintains an active database of North American Anthropology clubs, and supports the creation of Anthropology clubs on college and university campuses
Identifies the recipients for the Emerging Leaders in Anthropology Program Award, the Carrie Hunter-Tate Award and the Emergency Relief Fund
Coordinates NASA’s election cycle, and makes recommendations for suitable candidates
Reviews, on an on going basis, NASA’s Bylaws and drafts changes at the request of the Executive Board, or as mandated by the membership base
